£10 Million Kick-Starting Tourism Package
There is no denying that businesses have taken a big hit from the COVID lockdown. It couldn’t have come at a worse time for the UK’s tourism sector; just as many attractions were gearing up to open for the season.
Tourism is a multi-billion pound industry in the Hampshire area* and the new package of support announced by the government on the 3rd July 2020 is no doubt very welcome.
The £10 million emergency funding has been designed to help businesses adapt and ensure that tourist hot spots are firmly open for the summer season.
Funding will be available via the Local Growth Hub’s in England in the form of grants between £1,000 and £5,000. These are to help businesses access specialist professional advice (HR, IT, financial, legal) or purchase equipment to adapt or adopt new technology.

Minister for Regional Growth and Local Government, Simon Clarke MP said:
“Kick Starting domestic tourism will be key to our economic recovery and that is why I am delighted to announce £10 million in new funding for small businesses in tourist destinations, bringing jobs, investment and financial support to the communities who need it most.”
